Production release management, automated maintenance and Media Capture routing

· 3 min read

Production release management arrives across the app, chat, voice and iOS, alongside automated maintenance, stronger secret handling, a Media Capture routing stage and fixes to agent routing.

This update brings release management to production, with deployment tracking, rollbacks and safety checks. You can run it from the app, chat, voice or your phone. Automated repository maintenance and tighter security handling also arrive, along with a new Media Capture routing stage and several fixes to how agent tasks are routed.

Shipping to production

  • Track deployments as they happen, with environment timelines, release status and features that update automatically as they reach production.
  • Prepare and confirm production releases from new release dialogs, choose whether a release completes on merge or only once production checks pass, and freeze a workspace's releases with a required reason.
  • Roll back a bad release, follow up on incidents, and have revert pull requests opened for you. Google Cloud Run deployments also get gradual traffic ramping and rollbacks to a specific earlier version.
  • Deployments now get extra safety checks, including database migration linting and analysis of how risky a change is.
  • Schedules can run automatically whenever a production release goes out. Release notifications arrive as fully composed emails, and scheduling is now blocked for Discover jobs that can't run on a schedule.

Chat, voice and mobile

  • Ask the assistant for release status, an explanation of why a release failed, or a release preview. You can also prepare a rollback in chat, or confirm releases and rollbacks by voice when enabled. Production changes always need your explicit confirmation.
  • On iOS, interactive release notifications link straight to a confirmation screen, where you can release, check status or roll back from your phone.
  • The chat model picker has a new frequently used section for switching quickly between your preferred models.

Maintenance and security

  • Automated repository maintenance now shows its status on the Deployments board and on feature pages, with new controls under Settings. Dependency update pull requests are classified automatically and held to strict safety checks before merging.
  • Leaked secrets can be detected and rotated immediately with no grace period. Webhook signing keys can now be rotated without downtime.

Agents and routing

  • Media Capture is now its own routing stage, so media capture tasks no longer get stuck on depleted accounts. Configure it under Settings → Launch, or through the routing-rule chat tools.
  • Re-routed tasks now start a fresh conversation with the new agent instead of resuming the failed one's. They also avoid computers with exhausted accounts and keep their assigned computer. Parent tasks no longer stay paused after their subagents finish.
